Leading people isn’t intuitive.

It’s a skill that can be taught.

Does this sound like you?

  • One part of you is thrilled about your recent promotion, but you also feel the weight of being responsible for other people’s performance.

  • You’re used to scoring all the gold stars as an individual contributor, but your performance as a people manager isn’t where you want it to be.

  • Deep down, you don’t trust your team to do things right the first time, so you work extra hours or delay projects instead of getting support by delegating.

  • You constantly cancel or skip one-on-one meetings with your team, even though you know they’re one of the best ways to motivate your direct reports.

  • You have no idea how to maneuver the near-constant changing mind of an executive and direct your team to deliver the right work at the right time.

  • You procrastinate assigning important-but-boring busy work because you don’t know how to position the business impact and why it’s so important.

When you were promoted as a people manager,
you were handed the reins without any formal training.

You spent years becoming a top performer; and then overnight, everything changed. Suddenly you’re responsible for more people, more scope, and more business impact than ever before.

And your old way of getting things done? There’s too much to do to cover it yourself.

Here’s what most new managers don’t realize:
it’s not your fault that delegating feels unnatural. It’s not your fault that good management was never modeled for you. And it’s not your fault that the weight of this role feels heavier than you expected.

But if you don’t get a handle on it, it’s costing your company real dollars —
and it’s costing you your confidence.

What transformation actually looks like

Carrie Skowronski, CliftonStrengths Coach showing her Top 5 strengths according to Gallup to a manager she is coaching

Hey there! I'm Carrie.

I’m the founder and head of curriculum design here at Leadology and I’m here to transform your identity from overly zealous individual contributor to all-star people manager.

I’ve spent the last 12 years supporting my clients with one of the most complex, yet undersupported areas in all of HR: being a new people manager.

Before I started a business, I worked as a training facilitator for some of the biggest brands on the planet. I realized early on that throwing people development dollars at mediocre training only left people managers even less equipped than they were to begin with.

Not only that, but due to the nature of the team dynamic, the scope extended even beyond the one manager and impacted the team too.

Naturally, I started wondering how expensive an underdeveloped people manager was for a company?

And what if their team members were underperforming too?

After seeing many dollar signs with plenty of 00s behind them on spreadsheets, I realized leaving new people managers to fend for themselves wasn’t just bad for their teams. It was also bad for business.

That’s why you’ll find me and my team facilitating our curated suite of leadership development programs — designed to support new managers with the “people” side of business leadership.

While most companies will put first-time people managers into a course or program, they’re often self-paced, high-level, and too generic. There are often no hands-on elements or real-world application as you’re learning, which makes you more likely to forget what you’re learning as you go through the curriculum.

Because lasting behavior change requires more than one learning format. Self-paced videos build your foundation, group coaching exposes you to diverse real-world scenarios and practice that accelerates growth, and 1:1 sessions help you apply everything to your specific challenges. This isn’t about checking a training box — it’s about developing managers who actually use what they learn.

Absolutely! We have a handful of custom facilitation openings each year to curate a manager, leadership, or individual contributor curriculum that will work for you. Just fill out this form and let us know what you’ve got in mind.

Most companies these days offer reimbursement for continuous learning opportunities and programs like ACTIVATE — and we want to help you take advantage.

We’ve prepared a guide to help you approach the conversation, including an email template that you can use to send to your company.

We hope you’re able to get a reimbursement — but if not, don’t be afraid to invest in yourself anyway. It’s easy and even comfortable to accept the status quo during times of uncertainty, but we have to make an ongoing effort to move forward — to focus on our personal development. Especially now.

You’ll be a more confident leader, build a more productive team, and you just might get that promotion you’ve been waiting for in return.

The program runs 12 weeks with intentional breaks built in, it’sdesigned to fit around a real workload. Each week includes short video lessons, one worksheet, and a quick quiz. Some videos are just a few minutes; none exceed 20. It’s structured to fit into a working manager’s week, not take it over.
